Xiana Al’Karni
Xiana Al’Karni is the beloved daughter of Haxan and Murvina Al'Karni. She is a good daughter that was respectful to her parents. Haxan was always busy with his duties in the community, but took some of those times as opportunities to bring her along and teach her how to use wisdom in caring and leading others. Her mother instilled the ideas of an ordered home, but extending that order to her body as well. As such, her mother used her own training as a Dervix to serve as the foundation.
Then, a call went out. All believers of those called to watch, were asked to gather in their home city, a city shared with Alavyar. They gathered. An unusually timed census was performed. While the count was conducted, religious ceremonies were preformed in the overwhelmed city. Her father conducted one such in their overfilled building, as expected due to his high ranking as a community Alagytolla. What was not expected was the presence of outsiders. Even more shocking was their knowledge of the old tongue. A simple recantation of old prophecy turned into prophecy being fulfilled before her eyes. Fear gripped her heart as the prophecy not only unfolded, but the meaning became clear. Always she had wondered at what the two gifts were that would be given. Now, she began to suspect. The first was almost certainly a precious thousand year old hand transcribed duplicate copy of the book of Jyneri. The second would be her. Her father had always called her his most precious gift. He had marveled at how well she had learned the Old Tongue and Komen. He had been in awe at her mastery of the healing arts, saying that she was blessed by the Kreator directly. He was further shocked by how well she took to learning the skills of armed defense taught by her mother. She locked eyes with her father as he presented his family copy to the foreign woman. They both knew she was next. The Kreator had gifted her to her parents to be trained for this moment. She was the next gift that needed to be given to save the world. Her hopes to lead their community, her hopes to marry a good man, her desire to bring order through governance and defense, were ended. She was to be the maid of others, serving in the most direct fight between the Kreator and the Dark One. She watched as she was gifted to these strangers. Her life would never be her own. She bowed to her father, letting him know that she held no anger towards him. She would do her duty, as the Kreator did not call recklessly. She would assure the Gift of Life and make sure they understood the Knowledge they had been gifted.
She did not know or understand the road before her, but she knew this was what her people had watched and waited for over 3000 years. She mourned the death of her dreams, but would celebrate the salvation of her people. Just not today, not today.
Huxan wanted the loss of two of the three things he valued most. He knew it needed to happen, he had read the prophecies too many times. Still, this was not what he expected when the Kreator had pushed for him to call for this extraordinary Gathering of the Clans. He wondered if Murvina would ever understand and forgive him. Now, the delicate dress panels she embroidered would never be worn, as their daughter would never be a bride. No, he knew. Murvina would accept, but never forgive him.
