Servants

The universe was filled with chaos without order. Into the universe, a piece of Matter emerged called Our World. As our world began to fall into chaos that would surely destroy it, the First Serpent (The White Serpent) saw the world and mistook it for its own egg. The First Serpent took the world back home and coiled itself around the world, hoping to protect it. The warmth from the serpent and the protection from destructive chaos promoted the life within. Shortly, the world was overflowing with life. The First Serpent was proud.

But the First Serpent was not alone, it had 6 siblings. When those siblings learned of the world, they were overcome with emotion. It was not fair that the First Serpent should have such a beautiful thing all to themselves. At first, they asked the First Serpent to share but it would not. Then, they demanded the world be broken and they each would be given a piece. The First Serpent resisted. Finally, one of the Serpents thought up a new plan. If they could not have it, they would corrupt it. Each Serpent thought of some new way to twist the beautiful world by drawing on their new emotions. The Second Serpent infused jealousy and envy.

As the Second Serpent infected the world, its skin turned green and fangs emerged. The serpent was so embarrassed, it hid away. The Third Serpent did not see what happened to the second, thus infecting the world without any thoughts other than denying their kin the world the third serpent wanted so much. As the Third Serpent infected the world, it also grew fangs and its skin turned pink. The Fourth Serpent saw this and grew angry. In a flash, it struck back and infected the world with Wrath. The Fourth Serpent quickly found itself painfully heavy with a skin of scarlet. The Fourth Serpent wandered off to find something it could destroy in its fury.

The Fifth Serpent watched its kin, but felt a gnawing hunger. The Fifth Serpent chose to forego caution and tried to eat the 'egg'. It could not, but its emotions dripped over the world and the serpent's skin turned amber orange. Although it had changed, it still was hungry and left to find something to eat. The Sixth Serpent hesitated, unsure what to do. Eventually, it gave in and tried to steal the egg for itself. But the world would not move. Instead, the serpent found its skin turning golden topaz. In frustration, it left to find something it could take.

The Seventh Serpent awoke from a nap, not having seen what had happened to its brethren. It slowly wound its way up to the world and lay its mouth over it, as striking was too much work. The Seventh Serpent allowed its venom to drip out, infecting the world with apathy. After a time, the Seventh Serpent left to find a good place to sleep as the world had been too much work, not noticing its skin had become sapphire blue.

About this time, The First Serpent returned. It found its beautiful world full of corruption. Nearby, it could see one of its fellow serpents, now possessing pink skin and fangs. Concerned for what its kin might do next without thinking, it locked up the pink serpent before searching for the rest of the kin. After many days, it returned. "I have locked up all of our kin for their dangerous foolishness. I have made your cells in different places so that you will be unable to commit great evil again.

On this island, I will confine your lust and betrayal, oh Blood Viper, so that the beings of my world will no longer be servants to those emotions. Unfortunately, I can not remove the taint that our siblings introduced, but I can limit it. Because I know that your heart will never change, I know that you will need to remain here forever. I will guard for now, but I will find truly faithful people to help with the watch. With the help of these people, I will guard you for all time. Sleep well, oh Blood Viper."
