The Astrological Story of Creation
It is said that when the world was first created, that all creatures could understand each other. Man and Elf talked with Horse and Lion alike. Man had little need for the weapons of today, since all worked together and discussed calmly when they had a grievous with another. No one suffered without those things that they needed, but no one had more than they needed either. Many would have called it paradise, but not all. The first to decide that things needed to change was Fox. Fox often supped on chickens that had succumbed to old age. But Fox was certain, as Fox had been thinking about it for a very long time, that young and fat Chickens would taste much better. But how could Fox catch a tender, young chicken? Everyone would stand in Fox's way and give Fox a beating if he tried to do so. Fox began looking around, watching the other animals. Humans were too fickle and unreliable, and Fox gave no thought to the Elves, Dwarves, or Orks. But then, Fox spotted Peacock. Peacock was a beautiful and knew it. But no one paid Peacock much attention. After all, what purpose did Peacock's beauty serve them? Fox knew that Peacock wanted the other animals to recognize and flatter Peacock for Peacock's beauty. Next, Fox saw Serpent. Serpent was very upset. All the other animals had feet, but not Serpent. Serpent had no feet. Serpent wanted Feet like the other animals. Fox continued looking, knowing that Serpent would help Fox, for the right promise. Fox spotted Hyena. Hyena was always counting what Hyena had. Then, Hyena would go looking for more. One was never enough, nor two. It was never enough till Hyena lost count. Luckily, Hyena couldn't count very high, so Hyena eventually was happy. Fox walked further and stopped to watch Boar. Boar was always charging things. Boar liked the satisfying way things cracked when Boar hit them. Boar liked how everyone thought Boar was strong and asked for Boar's help. Fox knew that but one more animal was needed and Fox would have a plan. But Fox needed an easy target for the last one. Fox found that target in Goat. Goat liked Sheep, but Sheep didn't like Goat. Fox knew that Goat would do anything to get Sheep. Fox took what Fox knew and spent two days planning and then started with Hyena. First, Fox taught Hyena to count to a million. Then, Fox left to see Goat. Fox explained to Goat, that if only Goat had Peacock feathers, that Sheep would like him. Fox explained to Peacock that if Goat had Peacock's feathers, that everyone would want Peacock's feathers to look as good as Goat and Peacock would be recognized for how beautiful Peacock was. Fox left the two alone and found Serpent and Boar. He whispered to Serpent that if Serpent helped make Boar mad that Boar would rip off legs from other animals and then Serpent could have legs. Serpent agreed. Fox and Serpent approached Boar and tried to explain to Boar, that as Boar's friend, they felt they needed to tell Boar something. They told Boar that everyone thought Boar was strong, yes, but also stupid. Everyone was always asking Boar over so they wouldn't have to work too hard. They would let Boar do the work for them, and then say how strong Boar was. Boar did all the hard work and only got a small compliment! Boar deserved more for all that work, but Boar never got it, because they thought Boar was stupid, not the fine gentleman and friend that Serpent and Fox thought Boar was. Serpent agreed with everything Fox said and told Boar that Serpent just couldn't keep the truth from Boar anymore. Boar was furious. For all the work that Boar had done, and then to be treated so!!! Boar began charging the other animals, ripping them to pieces when he could, with Serpent just behind him, trying to find a set of legs just the right size. By now, Goat and Peacock were very unhappy. Even though Peacock had given half of his feathers to Goat, no one was recognizing that Goat looked beautiful because of Peacock. In fact, the other animals were laughing at Peacock and Goat, especially Sheep. Instead of realizing the stupidity of Fox's plan, they got angry at the other animals ... until Boar came charging through. With Boar creating chaos, Peacock and Goat began stealing other animals’ feathers and fur. If they couldn't be beautiful, then no one else would be. With everything going on with Goat, Serpent, Peacock, and Boar, Hyena had realized that Hyena hadn't lost count of Hyena's stuff in a very long time. Naturally, this must mean that Hyena didn't have enough stuff. More importantly, since Hyena always lost count in the past and no longer did ... someone must have been stealing some of Hyena's stuff. With the distraction from Boar, Hyena began taking stuff from the other animals. Fox smiled at Fox's cleverness and stole Baby Chick when Chicken was looking the other way. Just as Baby Chick was about to be eaten by Fox, The Kreator put a stop to all the foolishness. The Kreator was very unhappy. The Kreator realized that Fox's influence could never be undone. The Kreator looked at each of the offenders and chose to start with Peacock.
"Peacock, for your transgression, half of your children shall not have your plumage, to pay for the half you gave to Goat. Forever, your children shall seek acknowledgement of their beauty and not find it."
"Goat, due to your transgression, your children shall forever be cursed with never ending hungers, always seeking and never finding. Since your transgressions are similar to Peacocks, all of your children shall be ugly to the eye."
"Hyena, your children shall always be found wanting, eating the leftovers of the other animals."
"Serpent, not only have you not gained feet, but forever other creatures shall try to crush your head."
"Boar, where once your strength earned you many friends, now, your children shall forever remain alone. You shall be scourged to the barren forests where your anger shall consume you and others shall hunt you for the flavor of your flesh."
"Fox, last but not least. It is your desire that has unleashed evil into my world. Because of you, I shall have to make all animals speak in a tongue according to their own species, that never again shall your silvered words turn one animal against his nature. All creatures shall remember that it was you who did this to them. Additionally, man shall hunt you for all his days, whether for sport or hunger, you shall find no refuge."
The Kreator picked six creatures and called them forth to him.
"Lion. I charge you with the task of eternally keeping all of these creatures in their place. Your strength is greater than even that of Boar, your roar is mighty, and your teeth sharp. Let not one stray, or death you shall bring to them."
"Pegasus, with your wings and great intelligence, forever be mindful of their thoughts. Let not such great temptation loose again. In guarded words and clever puzzles, keep them always confused."
"Scorpion. Small and quiet, but a lethal stinger you hide. Always watchful in the hidden crevices. Should temptation get loose again, your silvered stinger shall you use to bring it low."
"Unicorn, Life is your gift, give it well. Where evil has brought death, you shall bring forth life again. Your endurance shall oft be tested, but never shall it fail, even through the murk of time and the sinking of hope."
"Mouse. Always present, always ignored. Always seeing what others do not see, you shall find the truth hidden from the eyes of others by the maze of mortality. Always quick, always nimble, in this shall you remain alive to continue your task as watcher and guardian."
And with the end of the Kreator's words, the Kreator lifted the first of these species to the heavens and left them there to remind all of us. And in the middle, the Kreator put a symbol to remind the world of the delicate balance between virtue and temptation, The Scales of Wisdom.
...And to this day, Fox still tries to catch Chicken.....
