Riniko is the only Ncxon in the Konsil Ncxon region that is not a formal member of the Konsil Ncxons. Its population is primarily human and is estimated to harbor close to 8.5 million people. That number is very inconclusive as there is no formal census performed on the people of the Desert Lords (a group that inhabits the Sea of Tranquility). Most Rinikians tend to share a darker skin tone, not unlike the skin tones that would be found in the Middle East. Although Riniko has pockets of half-elves and halflings, few remain in Riniko for long due to codified religious intolerance and limited economic opportunities.
The largest city in Riniko is the capital, Mezzeran, with nearly thirty-five thousand inhabitants. Other cities of importance are Apok, Xanna, Nemasyda, Vihiko, and Nikodas. Most of these are regional capitals and have between twenty eight thousand and seven thousand inhabitants. Commerce in Alavyar is done primarily through Rinikian, the official language, though most merchants in most large cities are capable and willing to conduct business in Komen or possibly even in Nonix.
Riniko covers approximately nine hundred thousand square miles, most of which is unwanted steppes and wastelands that border the Sea of Tranquility. Sadly, the Sea of Tranquility is misleading as it is the name for the extensive desert that lies to the south of the Konsil Ncxons. The general undesirability of their land doesn’t concern the Rinikians as they truly love their homeland and find it refreshing that the great conquerors of history find little reason to bother them. Riniko derives a fair economy from the selling of precious metals, gemstones, onions, peppers, pistachios, salt, and pepper. The majority of the metals and gemstones are brought in by trading groups from the Sea of Tranquility to be resold to the Konsil Ncxons.
The Rinikians are governed by an elusive ruling body known as the Konsil of Ammon. While Riniko lies within the traditional area of the Konsil Ncxons, it has remained separate since the founding of the Konsil Ncxons. This schism has left most scholars with no outlet to record the formal workings of a group that appears to change membership on an annual basis and rarely divulges its membership. It appears to work well, as there has been little dissent about governmental policies since the founding of Riniko. Rinikians make very clear that they have no dominion over the people of the Desert Lords, but that they have some measure of control is obvious as every excursion by the armies of the Desert Lords into the Konsil Ncxons has been stopped only when Rinikian politicians stated that they would 'talk' to the Desert Lords. The Ncxonal Banner for Riniko is a Green Joshua tree on a field of brown.
Riniko has no known standing armed forces. However, any attempts to perform military actions within the traditional territory of Riniko are swiftly met by well-trained, but unmarked units dressed completely in gray robes that cover everything but the eyes. If these forces are not sufficient, as has been the case a few times in history, the Desert Lords themselves will appear and the matter will be quickly ended. Attempts to locate either force during times of peace are unsuccessful. Riniko does not possess Valkyrii and considers them to be an insult to the Kreator.
