Oleria is a composite of two of the founding members of the Konsil Ncxons, Ligne and Hallafax. Its population is primarily human and is estimated to harbor close to 128 million people. Half-elves and halflings can be found in noticeable quantities, but have fewer protections than their cousins in Alavyar. Elven and Noni traders frequently pass through, but rarely set-up shop outside of the largest cities.
The largest city in Oleria is the capital with nearly one hundred eighty thousand inhabitants covering over nine square miles. Other cities of importance are Hallifax, Murna’s Face, Minnowview, Porene, Gar Hallow, Marsha, Navoo, and Macon. Most of these are regional capitals and have between one hundred forty-five thousand and twelve thousand inhabitants. Commerce in Alavyar is done primarily through Komen, the official language. It is a fairly easy task to find merchants in most large cities that are capable and willing to conduct business in Alean, Nonix, and/or Rinikian.
Oleria is governed by a Sitizen Nobel who has been elevated by the other Sitizen Nobels to the position of Amanide (Sitizen Prime) for a six year term . Sitizen Nobels are Nobels who have provided at least six years of public service (through the government or the military). The Amanide traditionally rules from the Gold Throne in Ligne and is currently held by Lord Menureton. All Sitizen Nobels may vote within the House of Nobels, just as all Sitizen Komens (Commoners who have provided at least six years of public service) may vote within the House of Komens. Under the Olerian Akkords, all Legislation must pass with at least a 55% vote and all Constitutional changes must pass with a 75% vote. In practice, the House of Komens tends to vote in similar measure to the House of Nobels. Many feel that the position of Sitizen Prime has become mostly figureheadish, while others still see it as the most powerful individual on the planet. The Ncxonal Banner for Oleria is the Golden Lion Rampant upon a Verdant Green field.
Oleria is tied with Alavyar for second place as the largest of the Konsil Ncxons with nearly 1.5 million square miles of territory (roughly the size of India). Unlike Alavyar, Oleria has rich soil and an ideal climate. Vegetation grows in Oleria almost without effort. For this reason, Oleria is the breadbasket of the Konsil Ncxons. It produces fruits, melons, berries, olive products, nuts, cheeses, and grains of all kinds. Cotton is a cash crop for the lower half of Oleria. Olerian rums, wines, and champagnes are often without equal (though some prefer the Sangian wines). This strong emphasis on agriculture has led to a weak emphasis on industrialization. Additionally, there are limited ore resources within Oleria. These have created an environment in which most materials in Oleria require little processing or are imported if they do. Although the newer machined products emerging from Alavyar have been catching the attention of many Olerian nobles, it hasn’t off-set the trade imbalance that keeps Oleria quite wealthy.
While Oleria has a respectable volunteer military (nearly half a million) and a noteworthy number of Valhallian Valkyrii (please see Alavyar for more information on Valhallian Valkyrii), it rarely projects any power, relying on the other Ncxons’ dependence on them for spices and diverse agriculture to bend them.
