Alavyar is one of the founding members of the Konsil Ncxons. Its population is primarily human and is estimated to harbor close to 121 million people. Alavyar has the highest concentration of half-elves and halflings, due primarily to the local laws that assure high human rights protections to all citizens of the Konsil Ncxons. However, these rights do not protect against non-threatening racism, which still remains a common problem.
The largest city in Alavyar is the capital, Kissermea, with nearly two hundred thousand inhabitants covering over ten square miles. Other cities of importance are Mercer, Swissland, Valhalla, Red Kastel, Denver, Whyt Hal, and Kuatri Bra. Each of these are regional capitals and have between twenty-thousand and one hundred fifty thousand inhabitants. Commerce in Alavyar is done primarily through Komen, the official language. It is a fairly easy task to find merchants in most large cities that are capable and willing to conduct business in Alean, Nonix, and/or Rinikian.
Alavyar is governed under a hereditary monarchy with an elected legislative branch. The current monarch is King Hannamon who sits upon the Rose throne. Elected officials hold their position for eight years, with general elections for half the seats being conducted every four years. Laws and judicial decisions are centered upon the Coda Vyar and the Konsil Accords. The Ncxonal Banner for Alavyar is the White Rose upon an Indigo field.
Alavyar is one of the largest of the Konsil Ncxons with nearly 1.5 million square miles of territory (roughly the size of India), but also suffers from poor quality farm land. Common fruits and berries are still fairly plentiful and Alavyar is famous for their Meads and Brandies. Alavyar’s central exports are timber and education. Alavyar is home to the oldest, largest, and most respectable university in the Konsil Ncxons (exempting war colleges and centers for the magical arts). The foundations of the university in Kissermea are said to date back to the Kellindorian Empire.
While Alavyar has a respectable volunteer military, it is the bonded military that usually gets the attention. One of the states within Alavyar is home to the Valkyrii Order. This order accepts young girls and trains them until through puberty. During early puberty, they are transformed into Xerubs. This transformation somehow prevents significant development of traditional female sexual anatomy. Those that survive and show promise are further transformed into either Valkyrii or Angelos. Angelos seem to be altered to acquire greater speed while Valkyrii appear to be more combat orientated. Valkyrii are then sold, at exorbitant prices to states, nations, or nobility/merchants with enough money (and enemies) to justify the purchase. The Ncxon of Alavyar is provided a discount and therefore maintains approximately 10,000 in service. Valkyrii are a difficult commodity to acquire. They are prized for their inhuman combat prowess and their absolute loyalty to their master. Unfortunately, an average Valkyrii lasts only seven years before ‘The Hunger’ overcomes them. There are rumors that some can last as many as twenty years, but it is generally agreed that anything after seven begins to be dangerous to the owner. ‘The Hunger’ can often be costly, even if it is limited to just feeling ill. Often, the unshakable attitude of a traditional Valkyrii becomes bent toward the suicidal, the despondent, or even the murderous. All of these effects tend to be disastrous to an owner who allows emotion to extend the service of the Valkyrii beyond its natural term.
